At the heart of Hilton Head Gastroenterology is Dr. Michael Gilbreath, a board-certified gastroenterologist with decades of experience.
DR. MICHAEL GILBREATH
Dr. Michael Gilbreath is a board-certified specialist in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology with extensive training and experience. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago before completing his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Further refining his expertise, he pursued a fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. With a deep commitment to patient care and advancing gastroenterological health, Dr. Gilbreath combines clinical excellence with a patient-focused approach to diagnosing and treating digestive disorders.
DR. KENNETH MIRKIN
Dr. Kenneth Mirkin is a board-certified gastroenterologist with extensive training in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University before completing his internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Mirkin brings a thoughtful, evidence-based approach to patient care and is committed to helping individuals manage and improve their digestive health with clarity and confidence.
CHRISTY NELSON, APRN
Christy P. Nelson is a board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a strong commitment to delivering thoughtful, individualized care. She completed her undergraduate studies at Georgia Southern University and earned her Nurse Practitioner degree from South University, both in Savannah, GA. Christy brings a calm, reassuring presence to every patient interaction and believes in educating patients to help them make informed decisions about their digestive health. She’s proud to serve the Hilton Head community and is passionate about providing high-quality care with compassion and clarity.
JULIE SIM, AGNP
Julie Sim is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner who brings compassionate, patient-centered care to the team at Hilton Head Gastroenterology. She earned her nursing degree from South University in Savannah, GA, and went on to complete her Nurse Practitioner training at Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. Julie is committed to helping patients feel heard, informed, and supported throughout their care. With a focus on both prevention and long-term management, she enjoys building lasting relationships with patients as they work toward better digestive health together.
Our team also includes highly skilled physician assistants, nurses, and support staff who are dedicated to making your experience as comfortable and informed as possible. From your first appointment to follow-up care, you’ll find a team of professionals who genuinely care about your well-being.
